St.Patrick´s Day

St.Patrick´s Day

Well done!!

St. Patrick´s Day

St. Patrick´s Day

Come on Cate, Rita, Mamen and Lorena!

TIPS FOR LONG TURN (PART 2-  FCE SPEAKING)

1.- Don’t describe what’s in the picture. Focus on the main topic and compare the main similarity and any differences between the pictures.

2.- Compare the ideas the two photos show. If you are not sure, speculate.

3.- Make sure you answer the question.

4.-Try to give reasons for your answers.

5.-Speak for the complete minute. Don’t finish early. The examiner will say “thank you” when it’s time to stop.

6.- When your partner is talking about the photos listen but don’t say anything yourself. You will be asked a question at the end which should be answer quite briefly.

7.- Use vocabulary to refer to the photos:

In the first photo, a girl is…                        in the middle/centre there is…

In the second photo, there are…                  at the top/bottom I can see

In the background, I can see…            on the left/right There are…

In the foreground, There is….                        Behind/In front of … you can see …

8.- Use vocabulary of comparison and contrast:

While, Whereas, they both look quite happy, also, too, although, on the other hand

9.- Use vocabulary of speculating or impressions:

I can see a girl who looks as if she’s chatting on the internet…

It looks like a graduation ceremony because…

The weather seems to have changed…, she appears to be crying…

perhaps because she is writing…

The old people seem to be relaxed and enjoying themselves…

I think the girl might be talking to a friend about…

The old people are probably talking about…

They could be talking about.

10.- Modals to express certainty and possibility: She must be a film star…, She can’t be working hard…,She might be doing an project for school …., he could be about 30…, She may  work in an important company…
